9:30–10:30 (older group, ages 11–16)
10:50–11:50 (mixed ages, 8–16)
Mondays, term time
Location: Age Concern, Dale Avenue, Hassocks BN6 8LW
Group size: max 8 young people
Price: £19 if booking for the term or £22 per session (PAYG)
Our sessions are designed for young people who need a quiet, low-demand environment to enjoy art at their own pace. They work best for those who are anxious, find socialising tricky, struggle with low self-esteem autistic/ADHD and benefit from a calm, structured space keen to build confidence and focus on art in a supportive setting.
The sessions are calm and seated, with individual art materials provided. Regular visits to collect paint and paper are built in, offering both creative choice and a chance for gentle movement. We cannot accommodate children who need a high-energy environment, who find it difficult to remain seated, or who cannot follow the safety expectations of the venue. We share the building with Age Concern, so it is essential that everyone respects the elderly and vulnerable people using the space, this means no running in corridors, no shouting and keeping noise levels low.
Experiment with different artist quality materials and techniques
Enjoy a calm, safe and supported space
Build confidence and gently connect with others
Learn with professional artists experienced in ADHD, autism, dyslexia and anxiety
Develop skills at your own pace
Small groups (max 8) with all materials provided
Biscuits included!
Parents/carers welcome to stay quietly if it helps their child feel settled
Our groups are led by Suzi and Fi, both professional artists with a background in textile design. They bring an experimental, playful approach to materials while offering excellent technical expertise.
We use a quiet, tucked-away room at the back of the Age Concern building in Hassocks. It overlooks a peaceful community garden, the perfect setting for calm creativity.
For those who’d like to gain a qualification through their creative journey, we will soon be offering support for the Bronze Arts Award.
