1:1 Creative Mentoring for Young People in Sussex

Some young people benefit from a quieter space to explore creativity and build confidence. Our 1:1 sessions offer gentle creative mentoring through art making, conversation and shared interests. Each session is shaped around the young person, allowing them to explore materials and ideas at their own pace in a calm and supportive environment.

Every young person is different, so sessions are flexible and responsive to individual needs.

Who this may suit

These sessions can be particularly helpful for young people who:

  • feel overwhelmed in group settings

  • are home educated/attending school part time/EOTAS

  • are neurodivergent

  • are rebuilding confidence around learning

  • benefit from a calm creative outlet

Practical details

Sessions usually last 1–2 hours and take place locally in a calm setting. We offer an initial paid trial session so that everyone can check the fit feels comfortable before committing to regular sessions.

FAQ

  • Yes. Many of the young people who attend our sessions are neurodivergent, home educated, EOTAS or benefit from a quieter and more personalised, low demand setting. Our artists create a calm, supportive space where young people can explore creativity at their own pace. Art can help build confidence, communication and emotional expression, particularly for those who find a traditional classroom environment challenging.

    While our team are trained artists rather than therapists or behaviour specialists, we have experience of working alongside families, schools, LAs, alternative provisions to provide a positive and engaging creative experience.

    If we feel a young person needs more specialist support, we will always do our best to signpost to appropriate services.

  • We can support young people 4yrs+ on a 1:1 basis

  • Our team has a variety of skills and successful matching is usually when there is a shared passion. Our teams main areas of expertise are:

    • Drawing and painting with watercolour or acrylics

    • Sewing, knitting, crochet, weaving, textiles and macrame

    • Printmaking and crafting

    • Junk modelling

    • Cartoon, manga and anime

  • 1:1 creative mentoring sessions are £70ph. Sessions include planning, art materials and a personalised creative mentoring approach.

    Our team are insured, have enhanced DBS checks on the update service, are first aid and safeguarding trained and have access to supervision.

  • Our sessions are designed for young people who benefit from a calm, creative environment. While our team are experienced artists who can support confidence and emotional expression through art, they are not trained behaviour specialists and are not able to support behaviour that presents a risk to the young person or others.
